BMW Operating System 7 gets new OTA update

The latest Remote Software Upgrade has been announced by BMW. The Vision 21-03 updated includes over 20 models equipped with the BMW Operating System 7.0 which when installed will enable 1.3 million owners to enjoy a range of improved functionalities.

Below we have mentioned all the improvements the update will bring along in details, so let’s get started -

• Amazon Alexa support
  Up until the update, the Amazon Alexa support was offered in the following countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Great Britain. Now, BMW has extended the offering to four countries, namely, Brazil, France, the US, and Canada. The functionality allows the owner to check the news, control smart home devices, play music, and add items to the to-do list.

• BMW Maps GPS navigation system
  The BMW Maps GPS navigation system is a cloud-based system that’s updated with real-time traffic status, helping the driver determine the fastest route. The automaker claims the system covers over 120 million points of interest like images, opening hours, and ratings.
• Voice command/iDrive
  This one will add to the driver’s convenience. Like with web search engines, the customer will have to key in keywords to get the desired result. The update also includes a simplified one-box search system.

• Customers can save the setting permanently
  Definitely a time saver, as the customer can now permanently save Lane Departure Warning system settings. For instance, if they want it deactivated at all times, they can do so without the need to reset the setting every time the car starts. The same can be reactivated personally via the setting menu.
• Android phone display error resolved
  The previous display errors involving phones with the Android 11 operating system have been rectified.

How can customers update their BMW’s Operating System 7?

It’s easy, thanks to the over-the-air update via the My BMW App or via the car’s infotainment system.

It is to be noted that BMW vehicles manufactured after March 2021 are already enabled with the latest Version 21-03 update.
