BYD Atto 1 EV debuts at GIIAS 2025; starts from RM 50k

KUALA LUMPUR: While we welcomed the BYD Atto 2 (known as the Yuan Up in China) earlier this morning as the brand’s most affordable model to date, neighbouring Indonesia marked the debut of the BYD Atto 1, which is a rebadged version of the BYD Seagull for that market.

BYD launched the Atto 1 at the ongoing 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2025). Positioned below the Dolphin, the Atto 1 is an entry-level EV, offered in two variants -  Standard Range Dynamic and Long Range Premium. The prices are as follows -

For comparison, the BYD Atto 2, which is positioned between the Dolphin and the Atto 3, retails for RM 100,000 in Malaysia.

BYD Atto 1: Key highlights 

• The EV measures 3,925 mm in length, 1,720 mm in width, 1,590 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. 
• Both variants of the Atto 1 are powered by a front electric motor that kicks out a maximum power of 75 PS and a peak torque of 135 Nm.
• In terms of performance, the EV runs from zero to 50 kmph in 4.9 seconds and hits a top speed of 130 kmph.

• The base-spec variant is equipped with a 30.08 kWh BYD Blade lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery, offering an NEDC-rated driving range of 300 km. The top-spec comes with an increased battery capacity of 38.88 kWh, enabling the EV to cruise up to 380 km on a single charge.
• As for charging, the compact EV supports up to 6.6 kW AC charging and up to 30 kW (Dynamic) or 40 kW (Premium) DC charging.

• Parts of the standard equipment kit are -  Auto LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch infotainment unit, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, single zone air conditioning system, four speakers, electronic parking brake, keyless entry and start, NFC digital key, V2L, four airbags, rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system and passive cruise control.

• With the top-spec Premium trim also comes a powered driver’s seat, a wireless charging pad and six airbags.
• The EV is offered in three colour options - Apricity White, Sprout Green, and Cosmos Black.

Upon purchasing the Atto 1, BYD Indonesia offers a 6-year/150,000-km vehicle warranty, an 8-year/160,000-km warranty for the battery, and an 8-year/150,000-km coverage for the drive unit.
