CKD Mazda 3 launched in Malaysia - Available in three variants
Kuala Lumpur: Marking the official launch of Mazda 3 in the indigenous market (Locally assembled (CKD)), the drive is now at display at the Mid Valley Megamall. Unfortunately the hatchback variant did not make its presence here but it has been told that the drive has already made its way to all the local showrooms, stay tuned for more pics.
There will be three variants of CKD Mazda 3 made available in the local market – Hatchback, GL Sedan and hi-spec Sedan, all of these variants are powered by the same 2.0-litre SkyActive engine alongside 6-speed automatic transmission. GL Sedan forms the base variant of this trio embedded with side mirror indicators, halogen projector headlamps, fog lamps, manual air conditioning, 205/60 R16 alloys, fabric seats, i-Stop(start/stop), MZD Connect, DSC, ABS-EBD-BA and 6 dedicated airbags.
The high-spec sedan has all the features a luxury sports including auto-bi Xenon headlamps with AFS, auto single-zone air conditioning, shift paddles, keyless entry and start, navigation, LED tail lamps and LED DRLs alongside 215/45 R18 alloy wheels. According to us, only two things seem missing – A sunroof and i-Eloop regenerative braking which is found in many high end luxuries.
But this forms least of the cause of worries as they is so much more to gain, this includes an 8-way power adjustable driver seat, cruise control, head-up display, auto wipers, high-specification instrument panel (central reverse counter with digital speedometer), leather seats, reverse camera and an auto-dim rear view mirror. All this doesn't nearly sum it all, high-spec sedan also includes features like i-Activsense safety umbrella, High Beam Control, Rear Vehicle Monitoring, Smart City Braking system and Lane Departure Warning.
Talking about the mid-range Hatchback, its kit lies somewhere in the middle, it includes 18-inch alloy wheels borrowed from high-spec Sedan, navigation, automatic air conditioning, paddle shifts, LED DRLs, auto Bi-xenons and tail lamps. Although like GL Sedan, there are manual fabric seats, manual vipers and no-head up display on the board.
The drives are assembled locally in Kulim, Kedan and CKD Mazda 3 is priced accordingly as following – GL Sedan for RM 106,105, high-spec Sedan for RM 121,105 and Hatchback for RM 121,105.
