Denza Z9 GT RHD made a surprise appearance in Malaysia with a roof-mounted LIDAR sensor

KUALA LUMPUR: First previewed during the D9’s launch ceremony last year, the Denza Z9 GT made another surprise appearance at the new BYD Atto 3 launch earlier today. However, we get to see the vehicle in right-hand-drive configuration this time, unlike the left-hand-drive example showcased earlier.

Interestingly, the model on display appears to feature a roof-mounted LIDAR sensor, hinting at advanced driver-assistance features such as enhanced adaptive cruise control, Highway Navigate on Autopilot, and improved detection of vehicles, pedestrians, and other obstacles. 

For starters, the Z9 GT is Denza’s flagship grand tourer that combines sporty styling with advanced electrified powertrains. At over 5 metres long, it features a hatchback-style opening reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo.

Denza Z9 GT: Key highlights

• The Z9 GT is based on a specifically created e3 Platform, featuring many world-first and class-leading functions, based on four core technologies, viz., three-motor independent drive, active rear wheel steering, Cell-to-Body battery integration, and Vehicle Motion Control.

• The EV features a low and aerodynamic silhouette that exudes balance and power. It is equipped with 108-zone ADB headlights, lending the vehicle a bold, high-tech presence in both day and night.
• It measures 5,180 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and spans a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.

• Inside, we get a spacious cabin loaded with an array of intelligent technologies, aimed at offering an elevated driving experience. 
• Key features include - a 17.3-inch ‘floating’ central infotainment unit, a 13.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch front passenger display, 50-watt Qi wireless charging pads, an expansive ambient lighting system, and an augmented-reality head-up display.

• In China, the Denza Z9 GT comes in both a fully electric and a plug-in hybrid drivetrain option; however, for the local market, we can expect a pure EV version. 
• The specs could mirror those of the Australia-market model, which features a tri-motor powertrain, delivering a whopping power of 850 kW, a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of just 2.7 seconds and a driving range of 820 km.
• The upcoming Denza model rides on an advanced DiSus-C adaptive suspension setup, promising a balance of comfort, stability, and dynamic performance. 

With the launch of the Z9 GT slated for later this year, Denza is ready to lead the transition towards high-performance electrification in Malaysia.
