Dongfeng 007 and Vigo EVs set to launch in Malaysia next year

KUALA LUMPUR: Dongfeng Cars Malaysia is ready for the next big leap. After bringing the Box EV last year, the Chinese automaker now previewed its two upcoming models - the Dongfeng 007 and the Dongfeng Vigo at its headquarters in Cyberjaya.

Let’s dive deeper to know more about the upcoming Dongfeng EVs in detail.

Dongfeng 007: What to expect

• The Dongfeng 007 is a mid-size electric sedan that boasts a fastback silhouette with an aerodynamic shape, flush door handles, a lifting electric spoiler, and frameless windows, adding to both efficiency and style.

• It has a length of 4,880 mm, a width of 1,895 mm, and a height of 1,465 mm. The wheelbase is measured at 2,915 mm. These dimensions put it in direct competition with EVs like the BYD Seal, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Kia EV6. 
• The front is kitted with a split-headlight design, while the rear has a full-width light bar. 
• The EV has a minimalist cabin layout with a two-spoke steering wheel, a 15.6-inch infotainment unit, and an 8.8-inch instrument cluster. Other key features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 540-degree surround view camera, a wireless charging pad, power-adjustable seats, a 19-speaker Wanos sound system, and advanced driver-assistance bits. 

• The Dongfeng 007 is expected to be offered in rear-wheel and all-wheel drivetrain options, with the range-topping variant delivering a maximum power of 544 PS, a peak torque of 640 Nm, and a 0-100 kmph acceleration of 3.9 seconds. 
• As for the battery pack, the EV is likely to borrow the 73.48 kWh from the Singapore model, offering a driving range of 565 km.
• With an estimated price of RM 130,000, the Dongfeng 007 is set to launch in Malaysia next year. 

Dongfeng Vigo: What to expect

• The Dongfeng Vigo is a C-segment electric SUV set to rival the Proton e.MAS 7 and the BYD Atto 3 in Malaysia.
• It measures 4,306 mm in length, 1,868 mm in width, 1,654 mm in height, and spans a 2,715 mm long wheelbase. 
• The SUV has a rugged yet modern design with boxy proportions and an off-road-ready stance. It boasts LED headlights paired with L-shaped daytime running lights and L-shaped rear light clusters separated by a thin LED bar.

• Inside, we can expect a 12.8-inch infotainment unit, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, power-adjustable seats, and a 540-degree surround view camera.
• Under the skin, the Dongfeng Vigo may come packed with a single front-wheel drive motor tuned to deliver 184 PS and 290 Nm of torque. 
• Globally, the EV comes in two battery packs - 44.94 kWh and 51.87 kWh, offering a range of 401 km and 471 km, respectively.
• Set to launch in Q1 2026, the Dongfeng Vigo is expected to be priced between RM 110,000 to RM 120,000 in the local market.
