Facelifted 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser marks a debut
Kuala Lumpur: The 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser has finally made an official debut after being spied last month and a brochure leak in the month of May. The facelifted J200 has got many tweaks regarding its interior and exterior and would be wrapped in two new colours namely Copper Brown Mica and Dark Blue Mica (Onyx Blue for Australia).
The front fascia has received a futuristic designing with a more aggressive chrome grille with horizontal slats alongside the new headlamps with LED daytime running lights as well as a revised lower bumper and bonnet. Towards the side profile, the door handles have been redesigned along with the new fenders. At the back, one can notice a redrawn bumper, new tail lamps, reflectors, mudguards and an upper tailgate panel.
This robust SUV would be packed with an option of two V8 engines for a better fuel consumption and Euro 5 emissions. The 4.5-litre twin-turbo diesel engine is integrated with new injectors, redesigned mapping and a diesel particulate filter (DPF). This power terrain would be capable of producing a maximum power of 268 hp along with a peak torque of 650 Nm. Talking about the 4.6-litre V8 engine, it has been designed with an air-injection system that reduces emissions by inducing secondary air through the exhaust ports. This rumbling engine delivers a maximum output of 304 hp and a maximum torque of 439 Nm.
The interior of this car is redesigned along with new instrument cluster and driver-oriented controls. The dials and switches have been reshaped for a convenient use while the switches and displays for audio, air-conditioning and driver-related functions have been clustered into logical groups. It has been crafted with high-quality materials, that gives the cabin a royal touch. Soft padding is provided in the areas that come in direct contact with the occupants to deliver utmost comfort. Another addition to this facelift would be 4.2-inch TFT colour LCD screen and a new interior which would feature four colour choices.
This new version also brings along a lot of safety features with it. It includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, radar cruise control with brake control, lane departure alert along with the automatic high beam system. It also features the world's first under-floor view and a front view rotating display along with a panoramic multi-terrain monitor to access the outer conditions. Other safety features integrated into this car includes tyre pressure warning system and rear cross-traffic alert.
