Ford Ranger named Pickup truck of the year

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you read it right. Ford Ranger has been named the ‘Pick-up Truck of the Year’. The multi-award-winning vehicle has once again proved its caliber, this time at Carlist.my’s People’s & Editors' Choice Awards 2020. Ford Mustang has also brought pride to the automaker with it once again grabbing Gold in the ‘Aspirational Car of the Year’ category.

On the achievement, Turse Zuhair, Head of Sales, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion said, “We are honoured to be the topmost voted vehicle in both the categories by everyday Malaysians which led us to pick up gold for the second year running for the Ford Ranger and Mustang. Ranger continues and remains as the pickup truck of choice amongst consumers nationwide and we wish to extend our utmost gratitude to all our customers for their support.”

This happy news was shared by Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), the one and only Ford distributor in the country. The news brings even more joy as both the cars have bagged Gold rating for the second time, thus proving their worth.

Talking about Ford Ranger, it is available in several variants in the Malaysian market, wherein the Ranger Raptor is a certified pickup truck and Ranger WildTrak is well known for its class-leading safety pack.

What is Carlist.my’s People’s & Editor’s Choice Award 2020?

As can be seen from the name itself, these awards are organised by Carlist.my, a well-recognised local automotive portal. With these awards, Carlist ‘strives to provide an unbiased platform for consumers & editors to vote for their favourite cars, recognising the best riders on the road.’ It is a non-profit initiative with publishing rights given for free to all participating brands and media publications.

These awards are divided into two categories - People’s Choice and Editor’s Choice awards. The former is decided by customers who are asked to cast votes for the top three cars for each category and the latter’s faith is decided by editors and writers and is based on several factors.
