Ford showcases Mustang facelift at KLIMS 2018, likely to arrive in 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: Ford officially revealed the Mustang facelift in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018. The showcased unit is the sixth-generation S550 and the manufacturer has confirmed that it will hit in the Malaysian market in 2019.

The Ford Mustang facelift is available in two different variants - 2.3-litre EcoBoost fastback variant and 5.0-litre GT variant. Speaking of its engine, the  2.3-litre EcoBoost engine is capable of pushing out a maximum 310 hp of power along with a peak torque of 447 Nm. The 5.0-litre Coyote V8 which is present under the hood of the GT variant churns out up to 460 hp of power with a peak torque of 569 Nm. However, this output is applicable for North-American variants only.

The Malaysia-bound 5.0-litre model belts out a maximum of 454 hp of power and a peak torque of 556 Nm. Both the maximum power and torque comes at a rev range of 7,000 rpm and 4,600 rpm respectively. Both the engine variants get a 10-speed automatic gearbox for handling the transmission duties.

A lot of modifications have been done on the exterior. The bumper, front grille, fenders and bonnet gets a new style. All the turn signals, foglamps and three bar day-time running light array get an all-LED light setup. At the rear, a redesigned bumper, a black diffuser, a revised exhaust tip configuration, and a tri-bar LED tail lamp design are featured. The vehicle rides on the 19-inch Ebony wheels, which get the black paint job. The 255/40 tyres are provided at the front wheels while the rear wheels are equipped with 275/40 tyres.

Inside the car, a digital LCD instrument cluster of 12-inch is placed on the dash and it is accompanied by an eight-inch Sync 3 infotainment system. The door handles, bezels and rings are made of aluminium. Also, the knee bolsters are now padded and a new hand-stitched wrap is featured in the centre console.
