Get ready for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class CKD version

KUALA LUMPUR: To take on the likes of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, Mercedes-Benz will be soon introducing the locally-assembled A-Class Sedan in Malaysia. The automaker released the teaser of the CKD model on its social media handle earlier this morning with the caption “Simply perfect – Just like you. The new locally-assembled A-Class Sedan is coming soon. Stay tuned for more.” It indicates that the launch of the premium sedan is around the corner.

The local assembly of the Mercedes-Benz sedan is expected to bring a dip in its price, although it depends on the equipment changes. The CBU model currently on sale is priced between RM 222,121 and RM 259,255 with an ongoing sales and service tax exemption of 50%. The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, on the other hand, retails for RM 199,177.

Speaking of the ongoing A-Class specs, the car is offered in two versions - A 200 Progressive Line and A 250 AMG Line. The former is powered by a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo mill generating a maximum power output of 163 PS and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The A 250 AMG Line, on the other hand, takes its energy from a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine that is good for making 190 PS and 300 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7G-DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission. 

Standard kit includes an MBUX multimedia system, hard-disc navigation, 10.25-inch all-digital instrument display, 10.25-inch media display, Touchpad, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, sports seats, ambient lighting, THERMATIC automatic climate control, Auto-dimming interior, and driver's side exterior mirror, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, 4-way lumbar support and more.

Added to the safety and driver-assistance package are reversing camera, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, Active Brake Assist, KEYLESS-GO, PRE-SAFE, and multiple airbags.
