Hyundai new sub-compact SUV, Venue launched in India

KUALA LUMPUR: The Korean automaker has launched its new sub-4 meter SUV in India. It's Hyundai's shot in the segment that seems to be gaining buyers love along with some high numbers. Now, with India getting its hand on the Venue, we are hoping Hyundai to bring the compact SUV to Malaysia as well. Hope guys at the South Korean company are listening!

Like all Hyundai's latest offerings, the Venue also benefits from the brand's latest design language. At the front, the compact SUV gets Hyundai's signature Cascading grille, followed by headlights with LED DRL, turn indicators on either side of the hood, bold shoulder lines, dual-tone alloys, roof-rails, and wrap-around taillights.

The Indian-spec model is available in five trim options and comes with a price range of Rs 650,000 (RM 39,243) to 1.1 million (RM 67,016). The car packs a number of features like automatic climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric sunroof, wireless charging, along with other amenities. Also, it is the first connected car to be introduced in India and comes fitted with eSIM tech that allows the driver to remotely operate the sunroof, start the car, enable geo-fencing, and track the car's location.

As for under the hood configuration, Hyundai offers the Venue in three engine choices - two petrol and one diesel-fed motor. Under the first category is included a 1.0-litre turbo engine that develops 120 PS and 220 Nm, and a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated churning out 83 PS and 115 Nm. The third and largest option is a 1.4-litre diesel mill that pumps out 90 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. While the 1.0-litre mill can be coupled with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, its 1.2-litre petrol sibling is paired with 5-speed manual unit. As for the diesel motor, it gets a 6-speed manual transmission option.
