One of the highly anticipated cars of the year is the Hyundai Creta which has been spotted several times on Malaysian roads. It was only today that Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) officially opened the ordering books for the Creta!

Mr. Jeffrey Gan, Sime Darby Motors Managing Director of Retail and Distribution for Malaysia on Creta’s popularity said, “With so much practicality and space contained within a compact footprint, it’s not difficult to see why SUVs continue to rise in popularity, both globally and in Malaysia. Adding to this, HSDM Managing Director, Mr. Low Yuan Lung said, “The Hyundai Creta targets the young as well as the young-at-heart with its distinctive combination of contemporary design, connected technology, and comprehensive active safety features. Optimized for the Asia-Pacific market, this B-segment SUV also offers the practicality, space, and convenience to suit active lifestyles.”

The five-seater Creta hails from the B-segment crossover segment, making it another addition to the growing segment.

Variant

Hyundai Creta will be offered in the sole 1.5 Plus variant option.

The Creta’s overall length, width, and breadth measure 4,315 mm, 1,790 mm, and 1,630 mm respectively. The car’s wheelbase stretches to 2,610 mm.

Powertrain

Powering the all-new Creta is a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine generating a maximum power of 115 PS at 6,300 rpm along with a peak torque of 144 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The car features a spacious boot space of 416-liter (1384-liter when folded).

The drive is transmitted to the front wheels via a Smartstream IVT continuously variable transmission system.

Performance

The new B-segment SUV completes the century sprint in just 12 seconds and attains a top speed of 170 kmph.

Wheels

The Creta runs on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/60 R17 tyres and gets full-size 17-inch steel wheels with 215/60 R17 tyres.

Making driver’s and passenger's journey comfortable are several features like single zone auto with rear air-cond vent, Waze/Google Map, 3 USB ports, 2 power outlets, rear-view camera with dynamic parking guide, paddle shift, remote start function, and smart key with push start button.

Audio

The 8-inch touchscreen comes equipped with MP3 playback, AUX-in, and USB, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with voice recognition. Paired with the audio system are 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. Also, the steering wheels feature audio control and part of the specs sheet is Bluetooth connectivity.

The car gets a loaded specs sheet that comes equipped with LED projection headlamps, LED combination tail lights, LED DRLs, a 10.25-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster, power window.

While the Creta comes equipped with an auto-hold electronic parking brake, it gets ventilated disc brakes at both ends. A comforting drive is assured by MacPherson Struts at the front and coupled torsion beam axle at the rear end.

The car is offered in five striking tones including Dragon Red Pearl, Galaxy Blue Pearl, Creamy White Pearl, Midnight Black Pearl, and Titan Gray Metallic.

Price

Hyundai Malaysia is yet to reveal Creta’s price tag. However, we can always take a clue from our neighboring countries like Thailand 949k to 999k baht (about RM122k to RM129k). and Indonesia 291.3 and 408.3 million rupiah (about RM86k and RM120k).
