Locally-assembled Hyundai Staria bookings now open in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai has been making great progress in Malaysia. After shifting from a distributor-led model under Sime Motors to a principal-led operation, Hyundai Motor Malaysia is now ready to roll out its first locally assembled model in the country, the Staria CKD. 

The company has started accepting bookings for the locally assembled MPV, which is being manufactured at Inokom’s assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah. This move underscores Hyundai’s continued commitment to Malaysia, making advanced design, spacious comfort, and innovative mobility solutions of global standards more accessible to Malaysians.

Hyundai Staria CKD: Price and colours

The locally assembled Hyundai Staria price ranges between RM 179,888 and RM 267,888, which is the same as the CBU model, offered in four trims - 

• Staria Style 10-seater Style - RM 179,888
• Staria Prime 10-seater Prime - RM 196,888
• Staria Prestige 10-seater Prestige - RM 209,888
• Staria Prestige 7-seater Prestige - RM 267,888

With the CKD version, the automaker offers new exterior colour options - 

• Jet Black
• Snow Flake White Pearl
• Meteor Grey
• Stormy Sea

These new shades are available for all variants, adding a touch of individuality to suit every taste. 

Hyundai Staria CKD: Specifications 

All the variants of the MPV are powered by the same 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 177 PS at 3,800 rpm and a peak torque of 430 Nm from 1,500 - 2,500 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. 

This futuristic MPV offers an elevated comfort and luxury with a bag full of creature comforts, includes 10.25-inch digital instrument display, power sliding doors, power-opening tailgate, USB-C ports, Ioniq-style key fob, SmartSense ADAS pack, dual sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, Premium Relaxation seats with ottoman and ventilation, ambient lighting, 12-speaker Bose system, Qi wireless charging, and Surround View Monitor.

HMY’s local assembly & export goals

Within five years, the company plans to manufacture up to seven models locally, including ICE and hybrid electric vehicles. About 30% of these Malaysia-assembled vehicles are slated for export to neighbouring countries, further strengthening Malaysia’s role as a regional production hub.
