Hyundai revealed Next-Gen Fuel Cell Electric SUV
KUALA LUMPUR: The Korean manufacturer has recently revealed its next-gen electric SUV which will be powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. The particular SUV is based on the FE Fuel Cell Concept, which was showcased at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Hyundai has tagged the electric SUV as Next Generation FCEV which will be capable of delivering a driving range of 580 kilometers on a single tank.
The SUV represents the manufacturer's commitment to developing eco-friendly vehicles that are capable of delivering high performance. According to Hyundai, the SUV is already near production, but, there are some changes that might occur while introducing the production ready model. Some of the design elements that we might expect include a signature cascading grille and two tier headlights similar to the recently introduced Kona.
According to Lee Ki-sang, Vice President, Hyundai Eco Technology Center, the upcoming SUV will be an epitome of efficiency, unmatched performance and advanced technology, which will set a benchmark for others. It is not just the Next Generation FCEV which Hyundai will introduce, after its launch next year, there will be a couple of electric models that will grace the company’s lineup.
Considering the availability of the electric lineup, the company is planning to start with its native land and only selected countries. Gradually the manufacturer will expand its reach in other parts. Filipinos might not witness the updated lineup of electric vehicles anytime soon, but, the other models will be definitely introduced to maintain the leading position in the market.
