Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors has no plans to roll out 11-seater Staria
KUALA LUMPUR: A few days back, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors launched the luxury 7-seater Staria in Malaysia. While the MPV is also available in the 11-seater version in other markets, the local distributor announced that it has no plans to roll out the bigger model in the country. This means the Grand Starex remains HSDM’s sole 11-seater MPV in the Malaysian market, whereas the Staria Premium holds the position of the first luxurious MPV in the lineup.

The Hyundai Staria price in Malaysia starts at RM 358,888.
As per the Management of HSDM, the Hyundai Staria is “at par with premium Japanese MPVs, and it sits in a category that is a notch higher than the Grand Starex.”
In terms of dimensions, the Hyundai Staria is 5,253 mm long, 1,997 mm wide, 1,990 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 3,273 mm. As compared to the Grand Starex, it is 103 mm longer, 77 mm wider, and 55 mm taller with a 73 mm longer wheelbase.

Powering the new Hyundai Staria is a 2.2-litre turbo diesel mill that generates a maximum power of 177 PS and a peak torque of 431 Nm. The power is channeled to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox and steering shift paddles. Smart, Normal, Eco, and Sport are the available driving modes.
Standard kit includes LED headlights, a full-width LED DRL bar, parametric pixel LED taillights, smart power sliding doors, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, automatic air-conditioning, 12-speaker Bose sound system, seat heating, and ventilation function, wireless charging, USB ports for all seats,, electrochromic rearview mirror, 10-colour ambient lighting, electric parking brake, sunroof, six airbags, and Hyundai SmartSense ADAS suite.

Hyundai-Sime Darby retails the new Staria for RM 358,888 (on-the-road without insurance, with SST exemption). Included in the price is a standard two-year or 50,000 km warranty. Buyers can also have an extended warranty of a five-year/300,000 km and a free service package of three-year/50,000 km by paying an extra price of RM 10,000.
