Mercedes AMG unveils the new C63 Coupe

Kuala Lumpur: Following its countless teaser images and videos, Mercedes AMG has finally unveiled the new C63 AMG Coupe that will make its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Compared to the regular C-Class Coupe, it would feature a differentiated body. This new model would be the fourth member of the current C-Class lineup following the standard sedan, the AMG abled sedan and the standard coupe. A convertible version is also being planned which would not happen until 2016.

The automaker has released this coupe in two different variants, C63 Coupe AMG and C63 S Coupe AMG. Both the variants would be powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine which can also be seen in Mercedes AMG GT. This rumbling engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 476 hp at 5500 rpm along with a commanding torque of 650 Nm at just 1750 rpm. Further, it is mated to a reworked AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. It can complete a sprint of 0-100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds along with a top speed of 241 kmph.

Talking about the exterior, it is designed with a different grille design as well as a more prominent front spoiler. Black painted AMG styling bits can also be noticed on alloy wheels, mirror caps, front and rear spoilers, door sills and diffuser. Compared to its predecessor, it measures 64 mm wider at the front and 66 mm wider at the rear end. Further, the C63 Coupe is anchored with a standard 18-inch, 10-spoke lightweight alloy wheels with 255/40/R18 tyres in front and 285/35/R18 tyres at the rear end while the C63 S Coupe sits on 19-inch alloy wheels with same tyre size.

The C63 Coupe is integrated with a mechanical limited slip differential (LSD) while the C63 S Coupe comes with an electronically manipulated limited slip differential (LSD). This function reduces the slip on the inside wheel while cornering and allows the driver to accelerate out of corners without applying brakes. Further, C63 S Coupe is equipped with Dynamic Engine Mounts which adapt their stiffness to the current driving conditions and requirements.
