Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launches two new facelift models
KUALA LUMPUR: There are two new mouth-watering Mercs in town that cost over a million bucks. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia lineup now features the facelifted models of the S560 Cabriolet and AMG S63 Coupe. Needless to say that both of them were already attractive cars, but we would not mind getting to have newer versions. Apart from just the cosmetics, there are many other changes that Mercedes has introduced on them.
The front of the new facelifted S560 Cabriolet is not different from that of the current model. It continues to show off its magnificent diamond-like grille in conjunction with a new bumper. It is the rear that shows off a new set of OLED (organic LED) tail lights. Mercedes has carefully placed 33 ultra-flat OLED elements in each cluster. These lights behave differently, depending on ambient brightness, driving condition, braking, and turn signals.
The interior of the facelifted S560 Cabriolet gets a wide single screen display, new steering wheel, a COMAND Online infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options. You also get new options for the upholstery.
Under the hood of the new S560 Cabriolet is M176 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine which produces 469 hp and 700 Nm of torque on tap for your disposal. It is mated to a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
The other new Merc is the facelifted AMG S 63 Coupe. To keep things fresh, Mercedes has incorporated a few new elements on this one that include a prominent AMG Panamericana radiator grille, V-shaped air intakes, gloss black garnish around the jet wing apron, carbon side mirror caps, 20-inch twin eight-spoke AMG alloys, OLED tail lights (just like that of the facelifted S560 Cabriolet), AMG quad exhaust system, and much more.
Powering this AMG beast is an M177 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine with 612 horses and a mind-boggling 900 Nm of ground-shredding torque. The gearbox is a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT automatic.
The cabin of the AMG S 63 Coupe gets a bit of carbon trimmings. The 12.3-inch wide display shows a plethora of information like the engine and transmission oil temperature, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, engine output and torque, boost pressure, tire temperatures, and pressures, etc.
Mercedes has set the price of the new facelifted S560 Cabriolet at RM 1.31 million, whereas the other new AMG S 63 Coupe, costs RM 1.46 million.
