KUALA LUMPUR: The 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2025) has begun with a bang in Indonesia, displaying several new and shiny cars on the show floor from both local and international brands. One such model that caught our attention is the Mitsubishi Destinator, a seven-seater SUV with high ground clearance and advanced technology.

Mitsubishi Destinator: Key highlights
Dimensions
The Destinator measures 4,680 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, 1,780 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. With a ground clearance of 214 mm, the three-row Destinator has a minimum turning radius of 5.4 m.
Engine and transmission
Under the hood lies a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine which churns out a maximum power of 163 PS at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 250 Nm from 2,500 to 4,000 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.
The vehicle is fitted with Active Yaw Control and other traction-enhancing systems, along with five drive modes - Normal, Wet, Gravel, Tarmac, and Mud.
Suspension & braking
The SUV rides on 18-inch wheels paired with MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. Braking duties are handled by ventilated brake discs across the line-up.
Exterior
In terms of design, the new Mitsubishi SUV boasts a Dynamic Shield face with an attention-grabbing acrylic grille bracketed by stacked headlamps and T-shaped daytime running lights. Adding to the vehicle’s rugged look are pronounced wheel arches, blacked-out pillars, and chunky skid plates at the front and rear.
Interior
Inside, we can find a seven-seat configuration in 2-3-2 layout. The second-row seats come with 40:20:40 split-folding while the third row offers 50:50 split-folding. The dashboard looks similar to the Xforce, while the centre console boasts a gloss black finish and has a neat control layout.
