Mitsubishi Triton Single Cab AT launched in Malaysia at RM107,980

KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has finally put an automatic gearbox in the Triton Single Cab. The New Triton Single Cab AT is priced at RM107,980 on the road without insurance, for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia, and it comes in one colour only, Solid White. Take it or leave it.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much is the Mitsubishi Triton Single Cab AT in Malaysia?

RM107,980 on the road without insurance, for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia.
  • What engine does it use?

A 2.4-litre turbodiesel producing 184PS and 430Nm, paired with an automatic transmission.
  • What is the payload capacity?

Mitsubishi quotes up to 1,145kg, with cargo bed dimensions of 2,340mm x 1,580mm x 515mm.
  • For context, the existing Triton Single Cab manual sits at RM101,980, so you are paying roughly RM6,000 for the two pedals. That is not such a bad jump on a work truck, and is also not out of line with what the rest of the segment charges for the same convenience.

The more interesting comparison is with Isuzu. The D-Max 2.2L 4x4 Single Cab AT arrived in March 2026 at RM109,121.20, and Isuzu made a fair bit of noise about it being the first automatic single cab pickup in Malaysia.

Mitsubishi is second to the party here, but it turns up about RM1,100 cheaper. Toyota, meanwhile, still only sells the Hilux Single Cab as a manual at RM103,880, so if you want a single cab with a slushbox, the shortlist is currently two names long.

Mitsubishi's pitch is aimed squarely at the people who actually buy these things: SMEs, contractors, farmers, delivery operators, anyone who spends more of their day in traffic than on a worksite.

"For SMEs, maintenance and agricultural operators, every trip matters. The New Triton Single Cab AT helps reduce driver tiredness while maintaining the load-carrying capability businesses rely on every day. By combining the convenience of an automatic transmission with Mitsubishi Motors' proven durability and reliability, we are giving business owners a practical solution that helps them focus on growing their business while getting the job done more efficiently," said Takashi Sakamaki, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia.

The company says its own research found commercial vehicle users are increasingly asking for easier operation and less driving effort, which is the sort of thing you would expect to hear when the answer is already an automatic.

Fair enough, though. Anyone who has crawled through Klang traffic with a loaded bed and a clutch pedal will not argue with the logic.

    What you actually get

Power comes from the 2.4-litre turbodiesel making 184PS and 430Nm, which Mitsubishi says is best in class. The rest of the spec sheet leans on the same wording: best in class payload of up to 1,145kg, best in class cargo bed dimensions at 2,340mm x 1,580mm x 515mm, and best in class wide all-terrain tyres.

Beyond that, you get a rear differential lock, reverse sensors as standard, and a bedliner thrown in from the factory, which saves you a trip to the accessory shop.

Warranty is five years or 200,000km. There is also a limited time RM4,000 Diesel Support offer for buyers who purchase and register the truck, though Mitsubishi has not stated a cut-off date in its release.

    Where to see it

The New Triton Single Cab AT makes its public debut at MAHA 2026, the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition, running from 28 August to 6 September 2026 at MAEPS Serdang.

Given the target audience, that is about as on-the-nose a launch venue as you could pick. The Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia booth will have the truck on display for anyone who wants to poke around the bed and see whether 1,145kg looks like enough.

If you need an automatic single cab and you want to spend as little as possible getting one, Mitsubishi Malaysia now has the cheaper of the two options on sale in Malaysia.
