New BYD Atto 3 repeats history: Hits 1,000 bookings in 10 days

KUALA LUMPUR: The BYD Atto 3 entered the Malaysian market in 2022 and achieved 1,000 bookings within 10 days. Fast forward to 2026, and the newly launched Atto 3 has repeated history by securing over 1,000 bookings within the same timeframe. This achievement highlights the continued popularity of the Atto 3 among Malaysian buyers. 

BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD Cars in Malaysia, introduced the upgraded EV at Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026 earlier this month, making Malaysia the first country in the Asia-Pacific to introduce the 2026 BYD ATTO 3. The new Atto 3 brings some significant changes over the outgoing model, offering more performance, a longer range, and faster charging. 

The strong booking momentum adds to the EV’s impressive track record in Malaysia. According to BYD Sime Motors, the Atto 3 is the nation’s all-time best-selling EV model, with more than 12,000 units delivered to date.

Celebrating the new BYD Atto 3's 1000th booking milestone

 To celebrate this momentous occasion, the company organised a special ceremony at one of its Klang Valley outlets, BYD Bandar Utama, to celebrate the 1,000th customer. The event included a photo session with the customer and the company’s leadership team, similar to the celebration held in 2022.

BYD Atto 3: Key highlights 

Here’s a quick recap of the newly launched BYD Atto 3 -

• The EV is offered in two variants - Ultra and Premium, priced at RM 125,800 and RM 138,800, respectively. The early-bird launch package offers RM 14,000 benefits to the first 500 customers.
• The electric SUV measures 4,455 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

• While the Atto 3 Ultra variant features the same front electric motor as before, the all-new Atto 3 Premium is the talk of the town as it comes with a rear-wheel drive setup. It runs from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds and offers faster charging of up to 220 kW and a driving range of up to 600 km.
• Other upgrades include - new 18-inch alloy wheels, revised headlights,  sportier front and rear bumpers, and new dual-jointed MacPherson strut front and five-link rear suspension setup.

• The redesigned interior features a new steering wheel, a new column-mounted gear selector, a larger 8.8-inch instrument display, a faster 50-watt Qi wireless charger and more. 
• As for safety, the top-spec Atto 3 is packed with seven airbags and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.

Ensuring peace of mind ownership experience is a six-year/150,000 km warranty and an eight-year/160,000 km battery and motor warranty.
