Proton opens its first flagship 4S centre in Kota Kinabalu

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton is opening its wings like never before, both lineup and network-wise. Talking about the later aspect, the Malaysian automaker has opened its first flagship 4S centre in Kota Kinabalu. This new 4S centre is operated by Fook Loi Corporation and is Proton’s first top-tier outlet in the country.

Thomas Chin Kui Yin, Group Executive Director of Fook Loi at the opening said, “Deciding to become a Proton dealer was not difficult because we see the potential for Proton in Sabah. The current range of Proton models is highly competitive and technologically advanced with features that appeal to the new generation of car buyers.”

The launch of the new outlet has only expanded the brand’s lead of operating the largest network of 4S and 3S centres in the country. All this requires to be spacious, attractive, equipped, and comfortable with amenities like a coffee area, free WiFi, and a kid’s corner, and ample parking area. Besides, these outlets need to be staffed with well-trained service and sales personnel.

Dr. Li Chunrong, Proton CEO, said, “These may seem like simple requirements, but they are critical ones. Since outlets are our first point of contact, numerous steps have been taken to ensure that a wholesome experience starts here. These efforts have paid off. Our sales have been on an increasing trend, and with our new products, we are confident that we are on track for the company’s return to profitability.”

Proton’s expanding dealer network goes hand-in-hand with the brand’s sales growth. The Malaysian automaker had officially become the number two car brand (moving Honda a position down) last month. Proton sold 8,590 units in July alone putting its year-to-year figure to 52,108 units.
