Rolls Royce hit the highest sales record in 117-year history

KUALA LUMPUR: Rolls Royce has released its 2021 sales numbers that surprised everyone. The British luxury carmaker sold a total of 5,586 cars, which is the highest-ever annual sales in the brand's 117-year history. This is almost 49% more than the same period in 2020, even though car brands around the world were experiencing difficulties due to subsequent waves of pandemic or chip shortage in the last 12 months.

As per the company, all models performed well but the growth has been significantly driven by the Ghost. The demand for the luxury saloon was further surged by the arrival of Black Badge Ghost in October 2021. Together with it, the Cullinan and the brand’s pinnacle model, the Phantom have led Rolls Royce to hit the record.

    In addition, the Provenance (pre-owned) programme also gets exceptional sales results and Bespoke commissions remain at record levels. The latter unfolds magnificent individual examples like the spectacular Phantom Oribe co-created with Hermès, the Phantom Tempus, Black Badge Wraith, and Black Badge Dawn Landspeed Collection cars.

    In 2021, the company introduced a new contemporary coachbuilding movement with the unveiling of a coachbuilt masterpiece, Boat Tail. It has also announced its first all-electric car, the Spectre, that will hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2023.

    Commenting on the results, CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös said, “This has been a truly historic year for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. In the past 12 months, we have recorded our highest-ever annual sales, launched the latest addition to our Black Badge family, stunned the world with our coachbuilding capabilities, and made huge strides into our all-electric future.
