Skoda's first EV to debut on September 1, 2020

KUALA LUMPUR: Skoda Enyaq iV is the automaker's first electric vehicle. It was only in May that the company released the EV's first official images, and now it has confirmed its global debut date, i.e., September 1, 2020. This date coincides with the company's 125th anniversary, and the premiere of this milestone event in Skoda's history will be broadcasted live from the Czech capital, Prague. It can be watched on the company's storyboard and social media channels.

Soka Enyaq iV DETAILS

Here are a few key highlights of the Skoda Enyaq iV -

  • The Skoda EV is built on VW Group's MEB platform
  • It will be offered in five variants - 50, 60, 80, 80X, and vRS. The latter one is a sporty version
  • The EV is known to measure 4,468 mm in length, 1,877 in width, 1,618 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. Thus making it as spacious as the Kodiaq and shorter than the Octavia
  • The car tow loads of up to 1,200 kg, if required

  • Rear-wheel and four-wheel drive options will be available to the costumes, with a choice of five power levels and three battery sizes
  • It will showcase a driving range of 500 km, making it ideal for everyday use
  • Its battery pack supports fast-charging, the EV gets 80 percent charged in just 40 minutes
  • All trims get an electric motor at the rear axle with AWD trims benefiting from another motor at the front axle

Though we have only seen the upcoming Skoda EV with heavy camouflage, we can tell that its overall silhouette resembles a crossover rather than an SUV. A few exterior bits that we can trace are - a butterfly grille, sleek & stylish headlamps, and C-shaped taillights. As for the cabin setup, Skoda confirmed a heads-up display, 13-inch central touchscreen with connecting car technology, and 585-litre boot space.
