Smart #1 EV bookings open in Malaysia; launch soon

KUALA LUMPUR: After the recent introduction of the Tesla Model Y and BYD Dolphin, the Malaysian electric vehicle space is ready to welcome one more EV, the smart #1. The bookings for this electric subcompact crossover SUV are now open in Malaysia ahead of the launch scheduled in the fourth quarter of the year.

    Speaking of the smart #1 variants, the automaker offers the EV in two variants - Premium and Brabus. The former is powered by a rear-wheel drive single motor generating a maximum power of 272 PS and a peak torque of 343 Nm. It comes paired with a 66 kWh NCM (Nickel, Manganese, and Cobalt) battery pack offering a range of 440 km (on the WLTP cycle).

    The smart #1 Brabus, on the other hand, is equipped with an all-wheel drive dual motor setup churning 428 PS and 543 Nm of torque. The battery capacity remains the same as the Premium variant, however, here it lets the EV run for 400 km on a single charge.

    In terms of equipment, the EV features an illuminated front grille, CyberSparks LED + Matrix headlamps, a 12.8-inch floating infotainment unit, an electric glass roof, Qi wireless charging, a head-up display, a 13-speaker audio system, electronically adjustable seats with ventilation function, dual-zone climate control, multi-colour ambient lighting, and advanced driver-assistance systems.

    The automaker offers the upcoming EV in several exciting colour tones, including 

    Smart #1 Premium

    Laser Red, Digital White, Quantum Blue, Lumen Yellow, Cyber Silver, Future Green, Atom Grey- Matte

    Smart #1 Brabus

    (Two-tone colour combinations)

    Matte Black (Radiant Red), Laser Red (Eclipse Black), Cyber Silver(Radiant Red), Cyber Silver(Eclipse Black), Digital White(Eclipse Black), Atom Grey-Matte(Radiant Red), Atom Grey- Matte(Atom Grey-Matte)
