Subaru Crosstrek SUV launched in Malaysia, here’s all you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: Subaru has expanded its lineup in Malaysia with the launch of the all-new Crosstrek, previously known as the XV. The compact crossover SUV is offered in a single fully imported variant from Japan, priced at RM 190,788 (on-the-road, excluding insurance). 

Subaru Crosstrek: All you need to know 

Dimensions 

Based on the updated Subaru Global Platform, the Crosstrek measures 4,480 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height. It features a wheelbase of 2,670 mm, with a ground clearance of 200 mm, enabling you to safely navigate irregular road surfaces. The boot space measures 291 litres, expandable to 883 litres with the rear seats folded. 

Exterior  

As the name ‘Crosstrek’ is derived from Crossover and Trekking, the SUV boasts an urban appeal and go-anywhere ability. With an aggressive, rugged stance, it features a large hexagonal grille, slim LED headlamps, and chunky black cladding around the wheel arches and bumpers.

Other exterior bits include - LED taillights, LED fog lamps (front and rear), LED cornering lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, power-folding side mirrors, roof rails, and a roof spoiler. 

Engine and performance 

The new Subaru SUV comes equipped with a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated Boxer four-cylinder engine, a Lineartronic CVT gearbox, promising a smoother and more stable driving experience. The engine generates 156 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 196 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. 

Also part of the mechanical setup is Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system that distributes power across all four wheels and effectively doubles the traction capacity of the vehicle. The Subaru’s Dual-function X-Mode enhances off-road driving adventures by delivering traction in response to the road conditions, while the SI-Drive (Subaru Intelligent Drive) system offers selectable drive modes. 

Interior

Based on a human-centred design approach, the Subaru Crosstrek has a sophisticated interior with an intuitive dashboard design and supportive seating focused on comfort, practicality, and convenience. Key highlights include -
