KUALA LUMPUR: As promised, Subrau introduced the all-new Subaru Crosstrek. In Malaysia, this Subaru car is known as XV, however, globally Subaru has decided to use the Crosstrek nameplate and forgo the XV name completely.

What’s up with the name Crosstrek? According to Subaru, the name Crosstrek is derived from the combination of two works, Crossover and Trekking. Thus hinting towards the car’s urban appeal and go-anywhere ability.

Platform

The new Subaru Crosstrek utilizes the new and improved version of the Subaru Global Platform. The automaker has used a new full-inner-frame construction design that gives it all its strength. It also benefits from the structural adhesive, suspension connection with greater rigidity, and several other refinements seen on the latest version of the Subaru Global Platform.

Powertrain

Powering the new Subaru Crosstrek is a 2.0-litre e-Boxer hybrid engine which is paired with Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT unit. The power and torque details are yet to be revealed.

Driving dynamics

As per Surbau the 2023 Crosstrek showcases a huge improvement in terms of both driving dynamics and ride quality. The car features a dual-pinion electric power steering that lowers initial steering resistance and keeps the variable gear ratio at a lower speed.
Also, the electric brake booster enhances brake responsiveness in emergency situations.

Comfort

The Subaru Crosstrek comes fitted with super comforting seats with pelvis support that prevents the car’s swaying motion to reach to the head. Also, the cabin is designed in a way that reduces fatigue. For instance, an elastic adhesive has been used between the roof panels and braces that absorb all the vibration.

The car also benefits from subtle ergonomic changes such as an elevated centre console, improved door design, and improved cabin storage space.

Features

Part of the new Subaru’s specs kit is - LED headlights, LED cornering lights, 18-inch aluminium alloys, a massive 11.6-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen head unit, wireless smartphone integration, etc.

Safety

Part of the car’s safety kit is -

• Digital multi-view monitor and LED cornering lights (a Subaru first)
• Subaru’s EyeSight cameras with a new stereo camera unit and a wide-angle mono camera
• New & improved Subaru EyeSight’s image recognition software (enable object recognition at wider angles and farther distances)
• New wide-angle mono camera

Colour and upholstery options

Subaru is offering the Crosstek in a total of nine exterior colour options, including tones like Offshore Blue Metallic and Oasis Blue. As for upholstery, the choices include - fabric seats with silver stitching, tricot seats with silver stitching, and optional factory-installed leather seats.
