Sunway introduces a smart parking system with number plate recognition

KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway previews its smart parking system with license plate recognition at Sunway Pyramid. The brand has claimed that it is the largest unified number plate recognition system that supports various e-wallet methods and aims to further sanction effort-less experiences for its patrons.

There are multi e-wallet brands that have partnered with Sunway, such as Boost, GrabPay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, Maybank QRPay, and Touch N’ Go Digital. Moreover, the credit partners are Visa, American Express, MasterCard, UnionPay, JCB, and MyDebit.

According to the group, this innovative smart parking system will be installed within Sunway city, which incorporates Sunway Hotels, Sunway Pyramid, and Menara Sunway. Currently, the smart parking system is only available to the season pass holders and staff. However, pre-registration is also available. If you get your license plate registered, you can enjoy a one-off entry when the system is made available to the general public, which is supposed to happen in the first quarter of 2020.

Along with the smart parking system, the existing systems, which follow Touch n’ Go card and the convention ticket method, will work alongside. HC Chan, CEO of Sunway malls and theme parks said, “We are pushing forth on our digitalisation journey. With revolutionary technology, we want to continue introducing new seamless, exciting shopping experiences to our shoppers to enable hassle-free experiences with greater convenience. From our comprehensive award-winning Sunway Pyramid Mobile app with real-time navigation to this new parking system, we will continue to give our shoppers more reasons to choose us as their preferred lifestyle destination.”

The Sunway Group smart parking system has been tested, and it has accomplished a 95 % recognition success rate, according to the general manager of overseas sales, Felix Zheng Ya Fei.
