Tesla Model S receives interior update

KUALA LUMPUR: The Tesla Model S was a car that brought the automaker into the mainstream EV market. And now, we hear that the sedan is on the receiving end of a major interior update. The said announcement was a part during the company's annual Q4 earning report. The production of the revised Model S will begin soon, a few weeks time to be precise.

Tesla Model S interior revisions

Tesla has released a few images of the updated Model S, and from it the cabin changes seem more prominent. For instance, it now gets a 17.0-inch portrait display like the one found in the Model 3 and Model Y. The display benefits from brighter colours and improved resolution of 220x1300. Also, the system is now more responsive than before. What remains the same is the 12.3-inch instrument panel that is also found inside the Model Y.

Other inclusions are - a new chopped off steering wheel, lack of stalks, revised dashboard with vent-less HVAC system, and large wooden trims.

Tesla has also released a rear seat image that shows the Model S benefiting from new bolsterings, and a supplementary display at the bottom of centre console.

Don't worry, even the exterior body is revised with the major rework concentrated to the lower-front fascia. The side profile gets new wheels with the overall design language looking more aggressive than before.

Tesla Model S variant update

For the model year 2021, Tesla has introduced a new variant for the Model S. While the base Long Range trim remains, the range-topping Performance model has been replaced by the new Plaid model. On comparing the old Performance with new Plaid model, we found no major performance difference, however, the latter gets new battery cells. These new Tesla battery cells will help Model S Plaid achieve a record range of 837 km and reach 98 kmph mark in 1.99 seconds.

On a slightly different note, Tesla Model X will also receive a similar update on the outside and inside.
