The smallest crossover from Volvo, XC40 revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo has finally revealed its contender against the likes of BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Mercedes-Benz GLA, the all-new XC40. The new crossover is positioned below the Volvo XC60 and becomes the first member of the XC series. The all-new XC40 uses Compact Modular Architecture unlike Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90 which are based on the Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture.
Although the platform of XC40 is different from the elder siblings, the design elements are similar to the other members of XC series. The compact crossover gets a new grille and profile with 17 color combinations for both body and roofline. The cabin reflects the same sense of comfort and reliability as other members of Volvo family but, with a range of new features. At the center, a 12.3-inch TFT instrument panel and a 9.0-inch infotainment system are equipped while the 3 spoke multi-function steering wheel gets leather covering. The seats also feature comfortable leather covering and a number of storage spaces are made for your knick-knacks.
The list of safety features includes pilot assistance system, city safety, cross traffic alert, 360-degree camera, run-off-road protection and brake support. Pushing the 2018 Volvo XC40 are present one D4 diesel engine and a T5 petrol four-cylinder Drive-E engine. It has been also confirmed that the engine options will come with a pure electric and hybrid version as well. The crossover is scheduled to launch early next year and expected to enter the production at the company's plant in Ghent, Belgium from November 2017.
