The special Ghibli from Maserati and Fragment label collab is out

KUALA LUMPUR: Ever heard of the Fragment label? It is the brainchild of the Japanese ‘godfather of street culture’ Hiroshi Fujiwara. Well, we now have an excellent product from the collaboration between Fragment and Maserati - a special Ghibli.

The partnership between the two was hinted back in January and is part of the carmaker’s Fuoriserie customisation program that allows customers to customise their Maserati as per their taste and needs.

Born out of this amazing collaboration are two special editions of the Maserati Ghibli - the Operanera and Operabianca. The two will be presented in an exclusive global premiere in Tokyo.

Maserati in its press release stated that “They are more than just cars.” It further said, “They are symbols of the deconstruction of convention, a re-birth of hope, and are unmistakable statements of intent.”

Let’s see what the two special Ghibli models have to offer -

The Maserati Ghibli Operanera gets a glossy, opaque black exterior finish. The Ghibli Operabianca, on the other hand, features a glossy white, opaque black hue. The two cars run on 20-inch matte black Urano wheels and feature the Fragment badging on the grille and C-pillar.

The cabin continues the dark colour scheme seen on the outside. It too benefits from premium leather and Alcantara seats, dark blue seatbelts, and a contrasting trident logo on the headrest.

Staying true to the Maserati signature, the Operanera and Operabianca’s triple side air ducts come imprinted with the code “M157110519FRG”. What does it represent? Well, the first four characters are Ghibli’s ID, the next four digits represent the date of Fujiwara and Centro Stile Maserati first meeting, i.e., November 5, 2019. The last three characters, FRG, are taken from the Fragment brand name.

Number of units & distribution details

Maserati will be manufacturing only 175 ints of the two special models, Operanera and Operabianca. Both of which will be distributed worldwide.
