Volkswagen launches Tiguan Offroad, a hardcore adventurer
KUALA LUMPUR: Joining the likes of Tiguan Allspace and the regular Tiguan from Volkswagen, an off-road dedicated sibling has been launched by the German automaker. The adventure focused SUV was first put on display at the Moscow Motor Show earlier this year.
The newest VW SUV comes with improved off-road capabilities. Specially designed front and rear bumpers are equipped with skid-plates, majorly to protect the engine and other parts from stones and other elements causing damage. The front bumper now has a ramp angle of 24 degrees, allowing the vehicle to conquer all kind of terrains.
An Offroad badge has also been added on the B-pillars, which is a neat looking element. Other notable additions to the outside of the SUV are blacked-out chrome trims, matte Reflex Silver finished side-mouldings, mirror caps, and roof rails.
Helping you explore the unexplored are 18-inch Sebring alloy wheels. Also, 19-inch Auckland and Victoria Falls wheels, or 20-inch Kapstadt wheels can be availed at an additional cost.
With LEDs used in all lightening equipment, Dynamic Light Assist, Active Lighting System, and Dynamic Cornering Light make sure the visibility is always top-notch.
The steering wheel, along with the gear nob is wrapped in leather. The seats inside the Volkswagen Tiguan Offroad are covered with “Austin” fabric. Other features inside are stainless steel pedals & foot-rest, easy to clean rubber floormats, and aluminium decorative inserts.
For colour lovers, the Tiguan Offroad is offered in Pure White, Pure Grey, Indium Grey Metallic, Atlantic Blue Metallic, Oryx White Pearl, and Tungsten Silver Metallic. Also, there is an optional “Offroad Plus” pack that brings a two-tone appearance along with an all black roof.
The fun in the newest Tiguan is never far, as the 4-wheel drive with Active Control can be activated by a switch present on the centre console. The Active Control feature lets the driver choose from off-road, on-road, and snow driving modes. There is also a digital instrument cluster that features Active Info Display. Discover Pro navigation system, “Trailer Assist”, and DCC adaptive chassis control also help in making the adventure a better one.
Power in the adventure SUV is produced by different diesel and petrol engine. The diesel mill is a 2.0-litre TDI turbodiesel pumping out 150 PS of power. Then there are two different petrol motors as well. The first being a 1.4-litre TSI that churns out 150 PS of power, and the second one is a 2.0-litre TSI producing max power of 180 PS.
The Volkswagen Tiguan Offroad in Germany sells at € 40,925, which roughly translates to RM 195,000.
