Practicality that never tries too hard
For families like mine, always prioritizing spaciousness and comfort, the Toyota Innova remains the top choice. I drove it recently from KL to Penang with six passengers on board. Despite the load, the 2.0L DOHC engine felt impeccably steady and predictable. The AC vents for all rows were indeed a lifesaver, given how hot and humid Malaysian weather can become. The suspension handles all types of road conditions pretty well— especially the Batu Kawan stretch— without giving any unsettling feel to any of the passengers. If anything, the acceleration felt a bit sluggish when fully loaded. However, that’s quite expected from an MPV tuned for comfort over speed.
