Volvo XC60

The Volvo XC60 Recharge's cabin exudes quality and top-order fit and finish levels, with the same sense of sophistication and understated elegance as the exterior. It gets premium Nappa leather upholstery and a dual-tone black and beige theme, and it is further accompanied by charcoal headlining and metal mesh aluminium décor on the dashboard.

Like in other Volvo offerings, the XC60 Recharge also features a 12-inch full-TFT instrument console behind the traditional three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which has premium-looking chrome and gloss black inserts over the spokes. There is also a head-up display at the top of the centre console for a more tech-rich feel to the driver’s cockpit.

The AC vents on the Volvo XC60 Recharge dashboard have a square design with rounded edges on the corners and a vertical design for those placed beside the 9-inch portrait-styled touchscreen infotainment system. Developed in collaboration with Google, this screen also houses the commands for dual-zone automatic climate control. 

The lower centre console of the Volvo XC60 Recharge gets sleek buttons for the premium 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system. The horizontally laid central transmission tunnel has a crystal-themed gear shift by Orrefors, an electronic parking brake switch, and a concealed storage box. The cabin is equipped with plenty of other features to pamper the occupants, such as a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, air purifier, front and rear centre armrests with storage bins, powered front seats with memory function and more. 

The second-generation Volvo XC60 Recharge was introduced in 2017, and the current form is the facelifted version, which debuted in 2021. Since then, the SUV has remained unchanged, with the facelift bringing mild tweaks to the outer design and making it look classier and more elegant than ever before. 

The Volvo XC60 Recharge welcomes one with its classy-looking front profile comprising of an all-black grille that has gloss black surrounds and rectangular inserts, along with Volvo’s traditional logo with a slanted strip running in the middle. There are sleek five-sided all-LED headlamps on either side of the grille, with them having the now trademark Thor’s hammer-inspired daytime running LEDs stretching to the side edges of the grille. The gloss-black-themed air vents on the sides and a central trapezoidal air dam in the front bumper add some sportiness to the front profile of the XC60 Recharge.

The Volvo XC60 Recharge has a sophisticated look in its side profile, too, with smooth contours over the front and rear rounded wheel arches, 19-inch machined alloy wheels, and a slightly upright and long bonnet. Like the front profile, the side look of the XC60 Recharge also gets black highlights for the pillars, window surrounds, rearview mirrors, and slim roof rails. The rear profile of the XC60 Recharge gets the trademark vertically-aligned, Christmas tree-themed L-shaped tail lamps, which received new LED inserts in the facelifted variant. The lower parts of the tail lamps stretch towards the middle of the boot lid, which also houses the license plate. 

Tuned more for a comfort-oriented setup, the suspension combination of the Volvo XC60 Recharge consists of a double wishbone with coil springs and a stabilizer bar at the front and a multi-link setup with coil springs and a stabiliser bar at the rear. The five drive modes on offer in the XC60 Recharge are Hybrid, Pure, Power, Constant AWD and Off-Road for driving experience preferred based on terrain.

Like in all the other ‘Recharge’ plug-in hybrid offerings from Volvo, the XC60 Recharge also gets a plug-in hybrid powertrain based on a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine. Also including a front-mounted electric motor and a 19kWh battery, this powertrain of the XC60 Recharge produces 462 bhp of maximum power and 709 Nm of maximum torque output. The top speed of the Volvo XC60 Recharge is capped at 180 kmph, with it capable of doing the 0-100 kmph sprint time of 4.8 seconds. The 19kWh battery takes 3 hours for a full charge, while able to cover 81 km in the pure-EV mode.
