Frustrating mechanical problems, not very reliable

The Volvo XC90 is my first luxury car. I wanted to love it; however, just after a year, I had to drive to the shop for the 4th time to pick it up. The fuel efficiency is great, the ride is nice, but I never had to take my previous cars to the shop for anything other than maintenance. I encountered a shuddering jolt at less than 1000 miles in reverse, and that happened multiple times. When I took it to the shop first time, no one was able to find anything wrong. Even after a month of making the complaints, I haven’t received any resolution.
