Toyota Prius 2016: 5 Things to Know

Since it's unveiling at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, the all-new Toyota Prius 2016 has gained much hype among auto lovers. Being the world's first mass-produced hybrid electric car, it has a lot of expectations attached to it. Currently in its fourth generation, it has evolved itself with a new design, new platform and plethora of technical updates. While waiting for a Malaysian launch, we have many things to know about this car and understand it better.

So let's have a look at some facts which you should know about the all-new Toyota Prius 2016.

The all-new Prius 2016 is a bit bigger than its third generation. It now measures 61 mm longer, 15 mm wider and 20 mm shorter than its predecessor. The styling has also got much bolder with its arrow-shaped LED headlamps and sharper front spoiler. Its bolder look is further accentuated by blacked-out C-pillars and character lines which run throughout its length and sweep up to the back fender.

2. Fun to ride

Toyota has provided three different drive modes: Normal, Eco and Power in the Toyota Prius 2016. All these modes offer remarkably different characteristics. While Power mode offers a sharper response, the Eco mode offers a smooth and gradual acceleration. Further, its revised electric power-assisted rack and pinion steering wheel provides a better riding experience.

3. Spacious interiors

The occupants of Toyota Prius 2016 will benefit from increased space throughout the car. Though it is a compact and mid-size sedan, but unlike its size, it offers a huge boot capacity which comes to 502 litres. This extra space is also a result of its increased dimensions. Further, its headroom, legroom and shoulder room are also impressive.

4. Powerful and fuel-efficient engine

Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.8-litre inline four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine along with a new lithium-ion battery. To increase its fuel efficiency, Toyota has performed a number of tweaks. It has been updated with a new exhaust gas recirculation system along with an active grille shutter. Further, its hybrid system offers more electric power which helps it to deliver an impressive fuel efficiency of 40 kmpl.

Her love for these mean machines is carried over from her childhood. For Charu, Barbies didn't make a place in the list of her favorite toys. Instead she would love to collect those toy cars and would go gaga over them. Dragged into the commerce background earlier, now she has finally found her long lost love with CarBay. With a dream to own an Aston Martin one day, she doesn't get tired researching about other automakers too.
