2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Facelift Arrives in Australia

Kuala Lumpur: The 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Facelift has finally arrived in Australia after making its North American debut earlier in October, this year. The latest Lancer facelift flaunts a slightly revised front-end and additional equipment. The Lancer hasn't featured any major changes since 2007 and its latest facelift is following the same footsteps of its previous variants, excluding the new grille and the revised front bumper. Now the aggressive shark nose is gone and the divided grille is outlined with chrome.

The most notable revisions on the exterior of 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Facelift includes LED daytime running lamps curving around the fog lamps in a design seen on the existing Mitsubishi ASX. The latest Lancer facelift also features new side skirts and wheel designs as well. The interior enhancements of the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Facelift include a new front centre console with silver and black finishing in addition to a high contrast instrument cluster and a new colour touchscreen Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) head unit.

Lancer Facelift Interior

It is worth to mention that the existing Lancer lineup in Australia no more includes the top-spec Lancer XLS as it has been replaced by less costly yet sporty GSR. However, the entry-level ES Sports and the mid-level LS variants are still available. The Lancer's new entry price in Australia is A$19,500 (RM60,633), however, a slight price hike by the automaker will increase its cost up to A$24,000 (RM74,625).

Excluding the GSR variant, all Australian models of the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Facelift are powered by the MMC’s 2.0-litre Mivec engine that is capable of producing the maximum power of 170 PS along with a peak torque of 226 Nm. The engine of GSR model has been upgraded to 2.4-litre with output measuring 170 PS/ 226 Nm engine. All models (excluding the CVT-Only LS sedan) comes with the CVT with paddle shift or a ol' stick shift.
