2019 Isuzu D-Max now in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Isuzu has launched the D-Max facelift in Malaysia along with adding the 1.9 litre Ddi BluePower turbodiesel engine’s latest version in the lineup. It replaces the old 4JK1-TCX 2.5 litre unit, and the new oil burner comes with the variable geometry turbocharging as well.

It was at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 when the D-Max facelift was showcased for the first time in the country. A couple of weeks earlier, it was confirmed that the pickup truck would get a new engine.

As for the power output, the engine can provide a maximum power of 150 PS at 3,600 rpm, while the peak torque is 350 Nm at 1,800 to 2,600 rpm, which means that the power and torque have increased by 10% and 9% respectively. However, the fuel efficiency of the pickup truck has also increased to 19% as the truck will return a fuel economy of 12.5 kmpl. The pickup truck comes with a six-speed automatic and manual transmission options.

The 2019 Isuzu D-Max specs retained the 4JJ1-TCX 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine, which can make a maximum power of 177 PS coming at 3,600 rpm, while the peak torque is 380 Nm at 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels either via a five-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission.

The grille’s design is entirely new, and the headlights are now equipped with the bi-LED technology. The LED DRLs now gets an L-shape, while there are fog light surroundings with thicker chrome trim.

Speaking of the standard equipment on the single cab models, there are -

• Black power-adjustable door mirrors
• Halogen headlights
• Power windows
• 16-inch steel wheels
• Single-DIN radio/CD player having two speakers
• USB connectivity.

The pickup truck comes with a plethora of safety features including -

• ABS with EBD
• Dual airbags
• Hill start assist
• Stability control
• ISOFIX rear child seat anchors

The Isuzu D-Max price starts from RM 80,149, and it goes up to RM 120,838 for the premium variant.
