2022 Genesis Electrified GV70 breaks cover in China

KUALA LUMPUR: Genesis introduces the all-electric version of the GV70 luxury SUV, the Electrified GV70, at the ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show in China. Being an alternative to the Tesla Model Y and Audi Q4 e-Tron, the EV joins the Electrified G80 in the automaker's EV lineup. It is slated to hit the select markets next year.

    Among the standout tech bits of the GV70 EV is the Vehicle to Load feature for plug-in electric appliances, e-Terrain mode, and Active Noise Control-Road, and more.

    In terms of design, the GV70 electric version sets its apart from the ICE model with a different front grille incorporating an EV charging port and the absence of tail pipes on the rear. Included in the interior changes is the availability of a Boost button on the steering wheel, paddle shifters, and a smaller central stack. Genesis also used more eco-friendly materials in the green version.

    “We are presenting the Electrified GV70 to engage with youthful and energetic Chinese customers,” said SangYup Lee, Head of Genesis Global Design. “This is more than just a new electrified SUV. It is a statement for Genesis design that marks new territory,” he further added.

    During the show, Genesis will be showcasing a total of five vehicles, including the Electrified GV70, G80 luxury sedan, GV80 luxury SUV, and two G70 models.
