2023 Volvo V60 Recharge T8 Ultimate: What’s new

Volvo Cars Malaysia has kept itself busy with launches and other customer experience-enhancing bits. For instance the launch of the Volvo Certified Damage Repair Centre in Ara Damansara, the new DC fast charger at Volvo Johor Bahru, the arrival of the 2023 Volvo XC40 facelift, and the 2023 Volvo XC90. Now, the automaker has updated the Volvo V60 station wagon for the model year 2023.

Let’s get to know the 2023 Volvo V60 Recharge T8 Ultimate in detail -

Variant

The all-new Volvo V60 Recharge is offered in a sole Recharge T8 Ultimate variant option, thus replacing the previously available Recharge T8 Inscription trim. Thus replicating the variant revamp move the brand previously tried with the XC40.

Price

The all-new V60 Recharge T8 Ultimate variant retails for RM 321,888 (on the road without insurance). Thus, making it RM 16,000 cheaper than the previously available Recharge T8 Inscription model.

Available with each purchase is a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty and an eight-year, 160,000-km warranty for its PHEV battery.

Exterior

The new Volvo V60 Recharge T8 Ultimate like the previously available model showcases a striking design language. The new model retains the chrome-heavy bits and the panoramic sunroof as seen in the Inscription model.

As for new inclusions, the car gets new 19-inch five-triple-spoke black diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40 profile tyres, integrated twin tailpipes in rear lower apron, adaptive LED headlamps, and roof rails.

Comfort & Connectivity

Volvo cars are known to offer best-in-class comfort and connectivity features, the same holds true for the all-new Volvo V60 Recharge T8 Ultimate. The new station wagon is equipped with -

• Built-in Google services like Google Play Store, Google Assistant, and Google Maps

• 600-watt Harman Kardon sound system,

Powertrain configuration

The new V60 Recharge T8 Ultimate is a plug-in hybrid model whose powertrain setup includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine making 317 PS at 6,000 rpm and 400 Nm at 3,000-5,400 rpm. The engine power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission with Geartronic. As for the rear axle-fitted e-motor, it makes 145 PS and 309 Nm of torque. The total system output is rated at 462 PS and 709 Nm.

Battery & charging

Part of the setup is a large 18.8 kWh battery that takes 5 hours to charge via a 3.7 kW AC charger and 13 hours through a DC charger.

Performance

The above-mentioned powertrain configuration allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds. Running on electricity alone, the car offers a range of 90 km.

Safety

The new Volvo V60 T8 Ultimate benefits from a wide range of driver assistance systems that offers Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities via adaptive cruise control and lane centering assist. Also part of the car’s safety kit is autonomous emergency braking with cyclist, pedestrian, and large animal detection, lane keeping assist, front & rear collision mitigation, run-off road mitigation, rear cross-traffic alert with auto brake, and blind spot detection.
