2025 Mercedes-AMG SL63S E Performance arrives in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Alongside the new Mercedes-AMG GT63 Coupe, Malaysia also welcomed the latest Mercedes-AMG SL63S E Performance earlier this morning. This latest German roadster sits at the top of the SL family and blends advanced hybrid technology with Mercedes's hallmark luxury and performance.

2025 Mercedes-AMG SL63S E Performance: Key highlights

High-powered plug-in hybrid engine

The new SL63S is powered by a plug-in hybrid AWD engine that combines a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, a rear-mounted electric motor, and a two-speed transmission. The engine produces a maximum power of 612 PS and a peak torque of 850 Nm, while the e-motor kicks out 204 PS and 320 Nm. The total system output is rated at 816 PS and 1,420 Nm.

Power is sent to all four wheels, enabling this stunning drop-top to hit the century sprint in just 2.9 seconds and attain a top speed of 317 kmph. 

The e-motor is fed by a 6.1 kWh 400V battery pack, which offers an all-electric range of 13 km. The battery can be juiced up by a 3.7 kW AC on-board charger.

Advanced driving dynamics 

The Mercedes-AMG SL63S E Performance also offers agile handling and advanced driving dynamics, thanks to the following bits -

• AMG Active Ride Control with active roll stabilisation
• Rear-axle steering
• 21-inch forged alloy wheels
• Carbon ceramic brake discs with six-piston fixed callipers at the front and one-piston floating callipers at the rear

The new Mercedes convertible features advanced aerodynamic enhancements, adding to the performance, stability, and efficiency. It comes equipped with 

• A two-stage system (called (AIRPANEL) with slats behind the front grille that optimises cooling or reduces drag.
• An underbody aerodynamic element that improves airflow under the vehicle.
• A retractable rear spoiler that adjusts airflow based on speed and drive mode.
• A rear diffuser for improved downforce and high-speed stability.
