2027 BYD Atto 2 EV revealed in China with 501 km range

KUALA LUMPUR: BYD has pulled the wraps off the all-new Yuan UP in China, known as Atto 2 in several overseas markets, including Malaysia. The upgraded compact electric SUV gets several notable updates, including a bigger battery pack and a revised cabin layout. 

2027 BYD Atto 2: What’s new?

• The upgraded Atto 2 gets a bigger 51.13 kWh battery pack offering a cruising range of 501 km (CLTC). However, the 32 kWh and 45.12 kWh options remain available, with maximum driving ranges of 301 km and 401 km.

• The vehicle continues on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 with Cell-to-Body battery integration and is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor across the lineup, generating a maximum power of 94 hp and a peak torque of 180 Nm of torque. Notably, the 174-hp motor option is no longer available in China.
• While retaining its predecessor’s exterior footprint, the EV measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. 
• New for the model year 2027 are 17-inch low-drag alloy wheels and two colour options - Energetic Yellow and Oxygen Blue.

• Inside, the 2027 BYD Atto features a redesigned centre console incorporating a 50W air-cooled wireless smartphone charger and additional storage spaces. 
• The refreshed model comes equipped with a column-mounted gear selector, a 12.8-inch rotatable centre touchscreen that runs through the DiLink 100 cockpit, and an 8.8-inch driver display.
• Also part of the kit is a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel, four-zone voice recognition, ventilated and heated front seats, and a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade.
• With the upgraded EV, the automaker also offers its DiPilot C driver-assistance system that supports advanced systems like Highway Navigation on Autopilot and automated parking and assistance during parking manoeuvres.

The 2027 BYD Atto 2 price in China ranges from CNY 74,800 (approx RM 45k) to CNY 104,800 (approx RM 63k). Closer to home, the compact electric SUV is offered in a sole variant, priced at RM 100,000. It comes powered by a single FWD electric motor (delivering 177 PS and 290 Nm) and a 51.13 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 410 km (NEDC).
