28,000 Honda cars sold in January to April 2019 period in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia has revealed that from January to April 2019, the company has delivered around 28,000 cars. This impressive sales performance makes the manufacturer number one among the non-national car brands.

Honda Malaysia has claimed that it has acquired around 15% of the total market share, which helps it to claim the second spot in the overall TIV (total industry volume). Despite the unavailability of the crowd’s favourite Civic for the first couple of months, the manufacturer managed to achieve this feat. Speaking of the other models, the Honda City has contributed 34% in the brand’s overall sales, while the CR-V and Jazz have contributed 15% and 12%, respectively.

Besides achieving this impressive sales performance, Honda Malaysia has added a new color option, namely Passion Red Pearl for its top three contributors in the sales that include CR-V, Jazz, and City. The new color had first appeared on the facelifted HR-V’s RS variant, followed by Jazz Mugen concept, and BR-V Special Edition.

To provide space for the new color, Honda Malaysia discontinued one color scheme for each of the models. For Honda CR-V, the Obsidian Blue Pearl, following the Carnival Red for Honda Jazz and for Honda City the Dark Ruby Red Pearl have been shown the door. The manufacturer claims that the new Passion Red Pearl color has become popular among the HR-V customers and contributes 30% to the overall sales of the SUV.

Honda Malaysia’s CEO and managing director, Toichi Ishiyama said, ”With the new color introduction, the Jazz will exude a young personality feel while the City with a vibrant outlook and the CR-V appears more stylish. We believe all three popular models will look well suited with vibrant colors for the versatile lifestyles of their owners.”
