All-new Audi A6 Allroad unveiled

KUALA LUMPUR: Audi has unveiled the fourth-generation A6 Allroad that is based on the A6 Avant but with a four-wheel-drive system, increased ride height, and underbody protection. Audi made the car an off-roader that would have been previously impossible.

Like the VolvoV90 Cross Country, Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain, the Audi Allroad is a window for the go-anywhere estates.

The new Allroad is based on the Avant estate model of the recently launched Audi A6. The car features adaptive air suspension along with adjustable ride height this calls for 184 mm of ground clearance, thus helping with all-terrain driving.

Also included in its specs sheet are features like tilt angle assist and hill descent control. With the former allowing the driver to view the car’s tilt angles on the multimedia touchscreen display.

In order to curate a perfect off-roader, Audi has fitted the car with a selectable off-road driving mode that modifies the car’s handling system on rough terrains. The unique ABS braking system proves beneficial on loose surfaces.

On the exterior, the A6 Allroad sets itself apart from the regular A6 with design elements like roof rails and underbody cladding.

The cabin features, on the other hand, has been carried over from the standard range. On the dash is present a pair of central touchscreens - with the upper one taking care of infotainment needs and lower one handling utility functions like climate control.

The car would be available with a choice of two engine options - a 231 hp and 286 hp. Both the mills will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and 48-volt hybrid technology. Also, the Audi A6 Allroad would be available in two variants - Sport and Vorsprung.

The car would be launched in the UK in August and it the price tag on it would carry a price tag of £55,000, that is approximately RM 290,900,
