BMW Group Malaysia appoints new MD & CEO, effective from January 2016
Kuala Lumpur: Mr. Han Sang Yun will be the man behind the chair of BMW AG Malaysia effective from January 1, 2016. Mr. Han will be appointed as the new Managing Director & CEO for BMW Group Malaysia. Mr. Han is a Korean national and has over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry. Mr. Han was earlier the Head of Sales for the BMW Group in Korea and he was responsible for the Marketing and Product Management for the brand in the country.
BMW Group in the Malaysia will see new light and great success owing to the wealthy experience of Mr. Han. The German carmaker anticipates driving further in the premium automotive segment under the guidance of Mr. Han. His responsibilities here will be to identify new opportunities for growth in tandem with Malaysia’s ambition to be an automotive hub in the Southeast Asian region.
Mr. Han’s is appointed in the place of present MD & CEO, Alan Harris. Mr. Harris had a glorious work span of two years with the company, he strengthened the BMW Group’s position in Malaysia during his tenure over the last 2 years. Mr. Harris was the instrumental for several key initiatives took by the company in the past two years, including the assembly of a number of models in Malaysia at the Inokom facility in Kedah.
Apart from that, Mr. Harris also initiated the first BMW World Malaysia program with expansion of the BMW Group Parts Distribution Centre Malaysia in Johor and the BMW Group Malaysia Headquarters in Cyberjaya. Under his reign, the group also introduced new BMW dealerships in Kota Bharu, Kelantan and Batu Pahat, Johor.
