BMW’s to-be-launched flagship coupe revealed through patent images
KUALA LUMPUR: It is already known that BMW would be bringing back the 8-Series branding through its yet to be launched coupe, a flagship model. However, now we have a slight insight into the flagship, the M8 Gran Coupe, revealed via some patent images.

The concept of the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe was previewed back in March at the Geneva Motor Show. Back then it was as a concept scheduled to debut, not before 2019. However, the M8 model will be debuted in just a few months from now.
Getting to the mechanics, the M850 M-Performance model will be offered in the 840d diesel and M850i petrol guises. And with this, the Gran Coupe is also expected to follow suit. The M8 production model is said to be capable of 600 PS derived from a highly-tuned trim of the same motor. Moreover, the M8 will be available in all the three body styles of the 8-Series.

This BMW Gran Coupe is expected to hit the production phase in 2019 and would be very much similar to the 2-door version. However, there would be some gentle modifications, like higher rear roofline, so that the rear passengers have a better headroom.
After the revealing of the 8-Series coupe, revelations of the Gran Coupe and convertible were also done via patent images, which, of course, did manage to show the distinctive designing differences.

With this new base for the entire revised 8-Series range, which would make public debut in November, all of the M8 models will have the company’s 4.4-litre V8 engine with two turbochargers. This can be ascertained as the car that did the Daytona 24 Hours had the same engine.
Finally, the production version of the car is expected to be more powerful than the 592 PS M5 and the competing AMG-developed Mercedes S63 Coupe with 577 PS power.
