KUALA LUMPUR: Chery has officially entered the humanoid robotics space with the unveiling of its new novel AiMOGA Robotics arm during a global launch event in Wuhu, China. In his keynote address, Founder and Chairman Yin Tongyue said the effort is positioned directly against Tesla’s Optimus.

This somewhat positions Chery as the first automaker globally to market humanoid robots for sale directly to the public. Depending on the version, local sources report that said robots, which boast diverse applications and uses (i.e. medical services, public services, etc), are priced online from RMB285,000 onwards.

Ahead of today’s launch, we were given early access to experience AiMOGA first-hand. Critically, we were also given direct insights into how AiMOGA was developed on the intelligent automotive software and hardware architectures – the very same that power products across key brands like Omoda | Jaecoo.

That means expertise in autonomous systems, sensors, AI integration, computing platforms, and mobility software has now been adapted into humanoid robotics.

“What we least want is to be defined as a traditional car company. Rather, we are a future-oriented high-tech embodied innovation company,” adds Yin. He also stressed that this AI-powered robotics push is not a diversification, but a generational product category in its own right.
