Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV gets a quicker variant, the Performance Edition

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ford Mustang Mach-E does share part of its name with the iconic Ford nameplate though not related to it technically in any way. However, it does accelerate like the regular Mustang. And now we hear that Ford has added an even faster variant to the Mach-E electric SUV lineup named the Performance Edition.

The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition is based on the 480hp/813Nm Mach-E GT trim and can outsprint the mighty GT500 in a straight line. All thanks to its two electric motors that generate a maximum power of 480 hp and a peak torque of 860 Nm. The said figures help the Performance Edition touch the 96 kmph mark on the speedometer in 3.5 seconds, which is three-tenths of a second quicker than the GT trim and two-tenth of a second behind the GT500.

The Performance Edition gets an 88 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that stores enough electricity to deliver a range of 378 km. In other words, the 37 Nm of additional torque saps 24 km of range from the Mach-E.

Like the performance, the Performance Edition features also differ from the regular GT trim. The new trim gets a specific grey grille, 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45R20 Pirelli tyres, 19-inch front brakes gripped by red Brembo callipers, a sportier MagneRide suspension.

Open the door and the exterior sportiness follows with the Performance Edition receiving Performance Gray ActiveX upholstery on the sculpted front seat, unique aluminium applique on the instrument cluster, and metallic stitching and Miko perforated inserts.

It has borrowed several exterior hues from the Mustang, including Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Grabber Blue Metallic, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, and more.
