Ford Ranger Raptor X Special Edition launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The sole distributor for Ford cars in Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion today pulled the wraps off the all-new variant of the Ford Ranger Raptor, dubbed as Raptor X. Exclusively available for Malaysians, the hot pickup is decked up in a striking True Red colour and tweaks inside and out. 

The special Raptor gets a 360-degree camera as standard. This system combines several video cameras for providing real-time full coverage of the area around the vehicle. It is mated to a dual-channel Kenwood Digital Video Recorder offering Quad high-definition recording, wide-angle viewing, night view recording, a built-in polarised filter as well as Mobile App connect via hotspot. The recorder is compatible with both Apple iOS and Android and comes with a 32GB memory card.

Other smart and safety technologies available with the Raptor X include first-in-class autonomous emergency braking with the vehicle and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning and assist. The special Raptor X holds a five-star NCAP rating.

Talking about the visual enhancements, the exclusive version features Raptor X decals and badges on the exterior. A Special Edition carpet mat accentuates the Raptor’s premium stance inside the cabin.

Under the hood, the Ranger Raptor X carries the same powertrain as the standard Ranger Raptor. That’s a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine generating a maximum power of 213 PS and a peak torque of 500 Nm. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission sending power to the ground, For off-roading performance, it equips a cutting-edge Terrain Management System offering six preset driving modes, while for tackling bumps and nuts on the terrains, Fox Racing Shox dampers are there.

The new Ford Ranger Raptor X special trim is priced at RM 216,888 (on-the-road, without insurance). Included in the price is a five-year/160,000-km manufacturer’s warranty.
