Gentari collaborates with AM Green for large-scale green hydrogen production

KUALA LUMPUR: Gentari collaborates with AM Green BV through its subsidiary, Gentari International Renewables Pte Ltd, to invest in AM Green Ammonia Holdings BV, a green ammonia platform, established by the founders of Greenko. An affiliate of Singapore's investment entity, GIC, is also an investor in AMG Ammonia.

Gentari has teamed up with AM Green to provide 5 MTPA of green ammonia (around 1 MTPA of green hydrogen) to the global market by 2030. This collaboration is a testament to the commitment of AM Green and Gentari in accelerating green hydrogen adoption on a global scale to fulfill the dream of a net zero future. This will also facilitate hydrogen transport, with green ammonia being the top choice. 

The production of 5 MTPA of green ammonia equals around 1 MTPA of green hydrogen. This will fulfill 10% of the imported renewable hydrogen goal of Europe and 20% of the 2030 green hydrogen production target of India. This will solidify the position of AMG Ammonia in large-scale green ammonia production as a global leader. It is expected that the first green ammonia export will be planned for late 2025. The main OECD markets where the export will take place include Germany, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore.

Along the green hydrogen value chain, both AM Green and Gentari offer complementary expertise covering ammonia production, electrolysers, and renewable energy, along with marketing capabilities. With financial support from GIC, Gentari, and AM Green, this partnership will fortify its presence in Europe and Asia Pacific. By 2030, Gentari aims to produce up to 1.2 MTPA of clean hydrogen, emphasizing the wider Asia Pacific region and Malaysia. Through green hydrogen initiatives, they are trying to establish a local hydrogen economy across various areas in Malaysia.
