GrabShuttle to offer last mile rides for ETS3 passengers at JB Sentral from Dec 12

KUALA LUMPUR: Grab says it is preparing to support the Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3), which will connect Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru beginning 12 December 2025, by focusing on a part of public transport trips that still frustrates plenty of people, the last mile.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is Grab doing for ETS3 passengers?

Grab says it will offer last mile connectivity using GrabShuttle, focused on trips to and from JB Sentral station as ETS3 begins connecting Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.
  • When does ETS3 KL to Johor Bahru begin?

According to the statement, ETS3 begins on 12 December 2025.
  • In its statement, the company says it will use its GrabShuttle model to provide connectivity to and from JB Sentral station, with the aim of helping passengers complete a “seamless, comfortable, and reliable door-to-door journey.”

The idea is straightforward, ETS3 gets you between cities, but your trip still depends on how easily you can reach the station from home, or get from the station to your final stop. Grab says integrating GrabShuttle with ETS3 is meant to make that transfer smoother, particularly at JB Sentral, which is expected to be a key interchange point for the Johor Bahru end of the route.

Beyond daily commuting, Grab is also framing the move as a travel-access boost for visitors. The company says the integration is intended to improve accessibility for local commuters and tourists, and it points to national and state level efforts to promote tourism in line with the Visit Malaysia 2026 and Visit Johor 2026 campaigns.

“We hope GrabShuttle provides an affordable and accessible mobility solution for everyone,” the company said, adding that it remains committed to delivering safe, efficient, and user-friendly mobility solutions that complement national transport initiatives and strengthen community connections.

For passengers, the practical question will be how the service is rolled out, including coverage areas, pick-up and drop-off points, and how pricing is structured compared to regular on-demand rides. Grab’s statement does not go into those specifics, but the company’s message is clear, it wants to be part of the door to door travel chain as ETS3 begins operations.
