Bridgestone Malaysia launches the Potenza Adrenalin RE005 — Here's what's actually new

KUALA LUMPUR: Bridgestone Malaysia has launched the Potenza Adrenalin RE005, the follow-up to the RE004 and the newest tyre in its Potenza lineup.

It's aimed at drivers who want something with a bit more bite than a standard touring tyre, without sacrificing day-to-day usability.

So what's different from the RE004?

On paper, the RE005 offers an 8% improvement in dry grip and a 10% bump in wet grip compared to its predecessor. Whether you feel that difference on the road depends on how you drive, but the numbers suggest Bridgestone has done meaningful work under the tread rather than just a cosmetic refresh.

The tyre uses a wide block design to spread contact pressure more evenly — useful for both grip consistency and tread longevity. There's also what Bridgestone calls an "A"-shaped groove, which feeds into cornering stability and helps with predictable steering feel mid-turn. A wider inside rib handles the steering response side of things.

Wet road performance

Rain pulse grooves handle water evacuation to lower the risk of hydroplaning. The rubber compound has also been updated to work better across conditions — warmer roads, sudden downpours, the kind of mixed driving that's pretty standard in Malaysia. Heat resistance has been improved too, which matters here more than in cooler climates.

Wear and efficiency

Rolling resistance is reportedly lower on the RE005, which Bridgestone links to better fuel efficiency and longer tread life. A multi-round block design at the shoulder helps keep contact pressure consistent across the tyre's lifespan rather than wearing unevenly from the outside in.

Who is it for?

Bridgestone lists sporty sedans, performance cars, and EVs as the target vehicles. The RE005 comes in sizes from 15 to 20 inches, so it covers a reasonably broad range of fitments. It's not a track-day tyre — it's built around the idea that most performance-minded drivers still commute daily and need something that handles both.

The RE005 is available now through authorised Bridgestone dealers across Malaysia. Prices start at RM351 and go up to RM1,543 depending on size.
